This is an updated edition of a book written by Missionary and evangelist Roy Hession in 1950 in which he profiles the nature of religious revival and lays out the prerequisites and consequences of the activity of God in the heart of the hungry seeker.
Roy Hession (1908-1992) was a British evangelist and author. Hession was born in London in 1908. He was educated at Aldenham School where his introduction to religion led him to expect "anything but boredom" from God. He was very much influenced by their strong emphasis on a personal implementation of the basics of the Christian faith, in particular the healing powers of openness and repentance. His preaching subsequently incorporated these new insights. This brought criticism because of its introspective element, from some he had previously worked with, but it was much appreciated by many Christians on both sides of the Atlantic.
Roy Hession died in 1992 but he is remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and his humor, but above all for his unwavering stand on the principles of repentance and grace that had become so precious to him.

We read this book in our Bible Study group and WOW! This little book brings a HUGE punch. We host women of different churches/denominations, both new and "seasoned" believers, and a wide range of ages. This little book must be read by anyone who professes to be a Christ follower. We read one chapter a week and also used the study guide. I'm glad we did it this way because each chapter is so rich in wisdom that had we rushed through the book we may have missed a nugget of truth. Since then, I have repurchased this book as a gift. I highly recommend it for personal reading, Bible study groups, and/or as a gift!Product details

Very practical. You can read this, apply it to your life, and grow. Not just theory but theory that will help you improve. The simple message is often lost. This shows how Christ fits in to the every day life of each of us, how He can bring us to salvation. I look forward to teaching these concepts but even more I look forward to seeing them change my life as I strive to apply. Will need to be re read again, maybe several times as it is important that these things becomes part of everyday living,not just remain theory in some book.
Love this book. Somehow I missed it over all my years. Really full of great truths for one's relationship with God and others.
Pastors and mature Christians have strongly recommended this book to me. They told me it has changed their lives. The principles about living in the light are really good and should be stressed in this day and age where sin is considered an outdated concept even in Christian circles. I knocked one star because even though it is only around a hundred pages, it seemed repetitious to me. The phrase "the blood of Christ" was used so much it almost became a mantra. Yes, it is the central concept of Christianity, but there is more to the Christian walk. The Church and the fellowship of believers is important as well.
It is definitely worth another read and perhaps it will grow on me. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I recommend the book, but the book did not "impact" me as much as I thought it should.
This is a GREAT book about how to revive yourSELF! Many saved people have quenched the Holy Spirit and do not understand why their prayers are not answered and why they have no joy. Read this book and find out. Easy to read and and understand.
The Calvary Road is on my top 10 book list. I bought 5 additional copies recently to give out to others. In my opinion there are few books as helpful for a Christian to understand what the Bible has to say about living in a consistent, transparent, and honest way before God and men. The author is real with his readers and explains the Gospel for what it is in reality and not what a sinful man might want it to be. I hope you read it, because if you do, and abide in what it says, you will be blessed.
Each "chapter" is more or less independent of the next. The book is a compilation of writings that have to do with drawing closer to God. This books has truly made a difference in my life, and I can only say that about a few books. I'm an avid reader, but this book has required rereading to digest and ponder the author's contributions to walking closer to God.
A captivating look at personal revival which is The Holy Spirit revealing blind spots in a sinner who longs to justify God and confess that God is right and he is wrong and cry out in repentance and for the grace which was freely given through the Cross of Jesus! The man who does this is freed from his indwelling sins. I am longing for this type of brokenness and personal revival and excited about this work- I the chief of sinners - am not worthy of my Jesus but will seek those things above and set my mind on things above and will put to death those things which belong to my earthly nature.
